Here’s how avid gamers are using various musical instruments as gaming controllers for various popular games.
Youtuber beats Minecraft using MIDI keyboard as a controller
YouTuber Jachael123 managed to beat Minecraft using his MIDI keyboard as a controller. Not only did he win, he also managed to create a “nightmare” piano soundtrack (he had the piano sound playing as he pressed the various keys).

Controlling Goldeneye with digital piano using Nintendo N64 remote
Many kids who have grown up playing on the Nintendo 64 console would have fond memories of Goldeneye 007, a title that was the first FPS game for many kids in the 90s. And of course, it had some really catchy tunes.
Now an enterprising YouTuber Jackson Parodi has combined music and gameplay by controlling Goldeneye with his digital piano by mapping different piano keys to various buttons on the N64 remote.
Considering the N64 only had one analog stick and Goldeneye made you aim with four C-buttons or the D-Pad anyway, it’s not as inconvenient a setup as it might seem.
The start of the video shows which keys have been mapped to which buttons.
Perhaps he should play the game and improvise a bit while playing James bond songs, call it jazz or something; that way he can still beat the level and it would be a greater challenge for him as well.
While playing the game on a piano doesn’t produce fascinating melodies, it does encourage you to improvise during the cutscenes. Unfortunately Parodi has only played through the first level so far – we hope he manages to do more in the future.
As far as we remember, not many have attempted playing a videogame using a piano as a controller. Someone did the same for Doom (turned an old piano into a keyboard for gaming).

Player plays Overwatch’s in-game piano with a real piano
Overwatch is a team-based shooter video game developed by Blizzard Entertainment for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows.
Overwatch’s Paris map has a fully playable piano, and you can also use a real MIDI keyboard to play the Paris map’s in-game piano key-for-key.
“I wrote the ‘PianoAimBot’ in Python,” they said on Reddit. “You can actually play anything you want live on it (no macros). You can also load and play midi files.”
The playable piano on the map has 65-keys. In order to play the piano, you will need to find a character who possesses a slightly more precise weapon so that you can hit the keys right. Once you get the hang of it, you can easily play simple tunes on the piano.
