Jasmine s35: Review
The best thing about the Takamine S35 Acoustic Guitar is that you get a lot, for just a little money. Barring probably the looks and finish, you are not going to get a lot by buying a more expensive one, especially if you’re a beginner. Even for those who can play, this can be a cheap second guitar that can be used in smaller settings/venues.
These are actually made by the same guys who make the world’s hottest-selling all wood acoustic guitar: Takamine. It features an all-wood construction, and has a good tonal quality. You may need to change the default strings that come along with the guitar to something that you prefer.
Build & Finish
Its a starter guitar and the guitar feels a bit cheap, its very light (despite being a dreadnought, probably due to the dryness of the wood). The hardware looks cheap, the tuners don’t seem to grip the strings well enough, especially while playing imposing bends.
Overall, the build quality of the guitar doesn’t look robust.
Looks
The finish of this guitar is actually a bit darker, compared to what you see on most sites, its more of matte not glossy. The good thing about the matte finish is that it won’t show your finger prints all over the body.
Sound & Strings
Most beginners may find the strings harder to play, so you should ideally change the strings right away.
Here’s a good set of strings. You should also get a good string winder / cutter and a tuner, as this is one activity you’re going to perform many times. There are several videos that shows how to change the strings, in case you’re not sure how to do it.
If you don’t want to change the strings, its fine too! It will hurt initially, but then you can play any guitar after this one.
However, if you are lucky to get a good, shiny set of new strings, that also sounds great, when you buy this guitar, there shouldn’t be any need for you to change the strings.
Overall, this is a great sounding & affordable entry level instrument.
