Setting Up Your Studio
Your first challenge is to get a decent interface to your computer so that you can record your music on the computer.
At the simplest level, you may go in for a USB stereo audio adapter which lets you connect headphones and has a microphone input. The sound quality is better than what your computer provides.
If you want a simple midi interface and are only going to connect a keyboard, then this 1×1 USB midi interface will suit your requirements.
For more connectivity options, you may consider the Behringer 2 In/2 Out USB audio interface or the Focusrite Saffire two-in/four-out USB audio interface. Both are very good options.
Another equipment that you’ll need is a controller. The Akai Pro MPK mini 25-key MIDI Controller is used by most music producers.
In case you use Ableton Live for your recording work, then you’ll find the Novation Launchpad Ableton live controller quite useful.
Most professionals spend a considerable of time tweaking the controls, and it’s much easier to do it using hardware than software. Here’s an excellent mixer that comes with 5-input, preamp and a USB audio interface
For all the DJs out there, here’s a cool USB DJ controller that easily allows you to control your favorite DJ software.
